A transcript by Alfred Neobard Palmer (1847-1915), with annotations by him, of a copy in Chirk Castle of a lampoon relating to Morgan Lloyd (Morgan Llwyd o Wynedd) (1619-1659), Major-General Thomas Mytton (1608-1656) (Halston) and other Parliamentarians. The work was entitled A new Ballad of the Plague wherewith Wrexham in Denbighshire is sorely tormented this year 1647.

Traherne-Mansel Franklen manuscripts
Manuscripts, [16 cent.]-1930, consisting to a large extent of the collections of the Rev. John Montgomery Traherne of Coedriglan, Glamorgan and of members of his family and that of the Mansel Franklen family of St Hilary, Glamorgan. A minor group included in the collection (MSS 6606-6615) represents the papers of William Davies, Cringell, near Neath, Glamorgan. The material includes correspondence of John Montgomery Traherne and correspondence and other material of or relating to John Walters, rector of Llandough; nineteenth-century music manuscript books, some of which belonged to members of the Talbot family of Penrice and Margam; a manuscript in the hand of Thomas Richards of Coychurch; a notebook of Jean Poingdestre; historical and other material of Glamorgan interest, including material relating to the Stradling family of St Donat's Castle, the Mansel and Talbot families of Margam and Penrice, and Sir Matthew Cradock; a sixteenth-seventeenth-century manuscript of poetry; together with political material, antiquities, pedigrees, transcripts and translations, newspaper cuttings, etc.

Miscellaneous essays, notes, etc., of a topographical and biographical nature, relating mainly to the parishes of Llanfor, Llanuwchllyn, and Llanycil, co. Merioneth, including an essay (62 pp.) on 'Hynafiaethau a Hynafiaid Ardal Celyn' [Cwm Celyn, parishes of Llanfor and Llanycil], by ' O letty'r chwilotwr', 1927; two short essays (19 pp. and 11 pp. respectively) on 'Hen Dyddynnod a Bythynod Dadfeiliedig Cwmtirmynach [ parish of Llanfor], ynghyd a preswylwyr olaf', the one by 'Brysiog', and the other bearing no name or pseudonym; a short essay (17 pp.) on 'Edward Jones y Wenallt' [? parish of Llanfor], by R. Price, Llansilin; notes by John Hughes on 'Hen Dyddynod Ardal y Parc'; notes by R. Prys Jones on 'Edward Foulke, Coedyfoel, Bala', who emigrated to America, 1698; and a copy of a paper on 'Hen Dyddynod Adfeiliedig y Plwy [ Llanuwchllyn], ag adgofion am rai o'u preswylwyr', read by Edw[ard] Edwards, to the Young People's Society of Yr Hen Gapel [the Congregational church, Llanuwchllyn]. Some of the essays noted were submitted for competition at local literary meetings.
