Eight diaries, 1873-1880, kept by Stuart Rendel, later Lord Rendel (1834-1913), recording details of domestic and family life, together with references to the business relationship of the Rendel family with Sir William Armstrong of Newcastle and his family, particularly in engineering and arms manufacture. There are many references to work undertaken for the Elswick Ordnance Company. The diary for 1880 refers to Stuart Rendel's early activities at the House of Commons as the MP for Montgomeryshire.

Letter-book of N. W. Adams, agent to the Stradey estate, Llanelli, co. Carmarthen, and the Romilly estate, Barry, co. Glamorgan, the Stradey correspondence relating to the period January 1880-June 1883, and the Romilly letters to August-December 1895. Subjects include the felling and sale of timber, mainly to local collieries, the sale and shooting of game, the purchase of shrubs, and estate rents. Also included is a detailed statement of food supplied for Stradey poultry in 1879 (f. 7).
