Papers of the Jazz Heritage Wales archive, comprising material relating to what was initially known as the Women's Jazz Archive, later Women in Jazz, and finally Jazz Heritage Wales, which reflect the archive's founding and development, its aims and objectives and its wide-ranging involvement in the field of contemporary and historical jazz music. Together with material relating to the archive's founder Jen Wilson, reflecting her interest, involvement and personal achievements in the fields of music, media, education and history, particularly women's social history. The archive also includes material relating to organisations and projects in which Jen Wilson participated but for which she was not solely responsible.

Papers of, and relating to, Dylan Thomas, [1925x2013], collected and collated by Jeff Towns, including scripts, correspondence, programmes and papers relating to the publication of Under Milk Wood, and radio, stage, film and audio productions of the play, 1953-2005; research papers and works relating to Dylan Thomas, 1937-2006; letters by Dylan Thomas, and the letters and papers of his wife Caitlin, their three children and his parents, 1935-2007; autograph prose works, [1925x1953], and personal papers, [1929]-1960; poetry, [1928x2010], mostly comprising autograph drafts; unpublished autograph letters by Dylan Thomas, [1926]-1995; and a small group of material, 1939-[2013], including four autograph letters, 1939, from the author, relating to The map of love.

The fonds comprises two accruals. The first consisting of papers, 1936-1987, including local affairs, 1973-82, Welsh affairs, 1972-83, domestic politics, 1978-82, legal matters, 1978-80, foreign affairs, 1978-81, Social Democratic Party, 1981-5, and Labour Party, 1986-7. The second accrual, described here, consisting of scrapbooks, 1970-1976, relating to Jeffrey and Margaret Thomas' work in the Abertillery constituency; scrapbooks relating to Jeffrey Thomas' general election campaigns in Barry and Abertillery, 1966-1979; and other political and personal papers.

Title deeds and other documents of depositor's clients, 1557-1939, relating to properties in Brecknockshire, 1557-1939, in particular to the Little Bell, Brecon, 1759-1883, and to the Pant Griffith estate, Merthyr Cynog, 1705-1856; in Glamorgan, 1731-1920, including the Court Rhyd-hir estate, 1731-1920; and in Radnorshire, 1639-1800, Monmouthshire, 1756-1834, and Herefordshire, 1557-1763.

Papers of Jenny Porter as co-ordinator of Cymru Pride Wales (CPW), relating to The North Wales Lesbian Line; publicity material; minutes of meetings; early Stonewall documents; papers relating to the formation of the LGB Forum Cymru launched in 2001, including a letter from Sir Ian McKellen apologizing that he is unable to attend the first proposed Welsh Pride on 23 October 1999.

The archive comprises the papers of Jill Evans, mostly produced and accumulated in the course of her work as a Member of the European Parliament for Plaid Cymru between 1999 and 2020 and include material relating to various campaigns on employment, the environment, women's issues, food standards, international development, the Iraq war, the Welsh language and Catalonia.

Papers of Jill Hutt, [c. 1963]-1998, relating to the formation of the Wales Trades Union Council (WTUC), 1970-1974; the Cardiff Trades Union Council, 1977-1989; the Association of Clerical, Technical and Supervisory Staff Section (ACTSS) Branch 4/45 of the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU), 1976-1979; National and Local Government Officers Association (NALGO), 1969-1994, and copies of Union Eyes, the Journal of the Cardiff Trades Union Council, 1987-1997; Parliament for Wales Campaign, including minutes of the Cardiff and Vale branch, South Glamorgan; 1992-1998; the Cardiff Unemployed Group papers, 1963-1998; low paid and part time work surveys, 1988-1991; the Welsh Language Act, 1992-1995; and the Welsh Baltic Association (WBA), and its Cardiff group, 1992-1997.

Two journals, 1717-1737, and a fragment of a letter-book, 1726-1727, of Sir Erasmus Philipps, fifth baronet, of Picton Castle, Pembrokeshire, containing descriptions of tours in Wales, England, Holland and Germany, entries relating to family and political matters, etc.; and a notebook, 1706-1710, of Erasmus's father, Sir John Philipps, fourth baronet, of Picton Castle, containing details relating to the execution of the will of his brother-in-law, John Shorter.

Papers, 1969-1977, relating mainly to John Barnard Jenkins of Mudiad Amddiffyn Cymru, including copies of letters, 1971-1973, sent to Jenkins whilst he was imprisoned and correspondence, 1969-1977, relating to his and other nationalists' imprisonment and to Jenkins's appeals against his sentence, 1970-1975.

The collection consists of personal, literary, and editorial correspondence, including correspondence from various poets and literary figures from Wales and other countries, and related papers, 1970-2017; literary contracts, agreements, and statements, 1971-2016; typescripts for published works, 1986-[c.1998]; papers relating to poetry readings, conferences, and events, 1995-2007; press cuttings and reviews, 1974-[c.2012]; papers relating to various music and poetry groups, 1999-2015; and diary notes, 1978-1985.

Papers of John Bedford, 1762-1791, largely relating to his time in South Wales, and deal with iron-making techniques, his interests in experimenting with and improving these techniques, and the state of his own business ventures in forging and quarrying. The papers include notes on iron-making techniques, 1763-1788; management and business papers, 1766-1791; correspondence, petitions and miscellaneous notes, 1766-1789; and quarry notes, 1762-1789.

Work diaries, 1936-1945, of John Bulkeley Jones, recording details of his work as livestock officer with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF, mainly in Cardiganshire).

Originals, copies and translations of letters and associated documents, 1759-1769 (especially 1763-1766), including some in code, received and sent by Brigadier-General John Carnac and other officers of the East India Company in relation to the Company's business in Bengal and further afield, and touching a wide range of matters including: Indian politics; the Company's diplomatic and military relations with local rulers; army administration, accounts and logistics; military intelligence and campaigns; trade and tariffs; shipping; relations with the French and Dutch; relations with merchants; the Company's internal administration and politics; matters concerning individual Company officers; and Carnac's own personal matters including his health, his conduct and his legal and financial affairs; the correspondents include Henry Vansittart, Robert Clive, Warren Hastings and many other officers of the East India Company, as well as Indian rulers and French military officers and civilian officials.

Papers of and relating to the novelist John Cowper Powys (1872-1963) and other members of his family, including his correspondence with family, friends and associates, as well as published and unpublished literary works, diaries, lectures, essays, and material relating to his estate and literary executorship. Also included are correspondence and literary and personal papers of Powys's companion Phyllis Playter (1893-1982), as well as personal and estate papers of members of the Powys family including his father, Charles Francis Powys, his paternal grandfather, Littleton Charles Powys, his uncle, Littleton Alfred Powys, his aunts, the Johnson sisters, and his nephew, Francis Llewellyn Powys.

A collection comprising correspondence, essays, pedigrees, medical recipes, hymns, and transcripts of hymns and poems, together with sermons and miscellaneous extracts and notes. Also included are papers relating to James Owen, Presbyterian minister; account books belonging to John Thomas of Penddol, Llanllwni and to David Davies ('Dafydd y Gof') of Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire; a manuscript in the hand of the Reverend David James ('Dewi o Ddyfed'); and sermons in the hand of the Reverend John Owen, Thrussington.
