A collection of some seventy letters, 1771-1790, from Dr Richard Price, Dissenting minister, political philosopher and mathematician, to Sir William Petty, 2nd earl of Shelburne and 1st marquis of Lansdowne, the letters relating mainly to public finance, notably the National Debt, the Sinking Fund and taxation, with other topics including the war with the American colonies; together with a catalogue of the letters and other papers compiled c. 1794 by 'S. P.', with later pencilled notes of subsequent additions to the collection (MS 23291E, ff. 1-15).

The fonds consists of a disappointingly small group of miscellaneous papers accumulated by Dr Roderic Bowen during the course of his political career and public life. They include printed matter, 1901-1993, press cuttings, 1906-1992, speech notes, [1950]-[2000], letters, 1955-2001, and pocket diaries, 1985-2000. There are also files of papers relating to the work of the Committee of Inquiry on Bilingual Road Signs in 1972, which he chaired, and to the unsuccessful attempt to secure a knighthood for Dr Bowen in 2000-2001.

Biographical material relating to Dr Samuel Evans, including photocopies of archive material relating to him and published articles by him, [1968]-[1969]; biographical notes and correspondence on Evans, compiled by H. Guy Edwards, 1968-1969; typescript biography by Edwards, 1969; copy of E. Morgan Humphreys, Gwyr Enwog Gynt (Llandysul, 1950) with a chapter on Evans; and correspondence between Alec Wright and the University of Wales, 1973.

Papers, [1769x1860], mainly of the political writer David Williams (1738-1816) from the collection of Dr T. W. Thomas, Caerphilly. They comprise: correspondence, 1783-1818, mostly addressed to David Williams; material, 1769-1845, by or relating to David Williams, his niece Mary Watkins and his daughter Emilia; papers, 1780-1807, relating to the Royal Literary Fund, which was founded by David Williams; and a draft prospectus, 1800, of a projected daily newspaper titled 'The Imperial Gazette', one of the prospective partners being David Williams; together with material, [19 cent.], of Monmouthshire interest

The fonds comprise personal correspondence, [c. 1950]-1983, scrapbooks and press cuttings, 1925-1998, relating to Welsh actors, music and the theatre in Wales, Cardiff Bay Opera House, &c., and acquired papers and manuscripts, mainly music scores and plays, [mid-19cent.]-1966.

Group 1 comprises a substantial corpus of correspondence and papers relating to Prime Ministers, government and society, education, foreign affairs, imperial affairs, Ireland, Wales, Coleg Harlech and the Gregynog Press. There are also classes concerning the Astor family, Abraham Flexner, Violet Markham, Sir Henry Jones and Sir Percy Watkins. There are also papers relating to Thomas's Jones publications and his diaries, privately printed in Switzerland, and a substantial group of press cuttings arranged by subject. -- Subsequent accruals of the papers of Dr Thomas Jones include correspondence and papers, 1855-1955, including letters to and from Dr Thomas Jones; pocket diaries, an account book and pocket notebooks kept by Dr Jones, 1916-[1955]; correspondence and papers, 1933 and 1948-1955, relating to the administration of the Pilgrim Trust; papers, 1955-1961, relating to Thomas Jones's death in October 1955, sympathy letters received, and material concerning arrangements for the memorial service and the administration of the Thomas Jones Memorial Fund; correspondence, 1962-1987, deriving from the use of the Thomas Jones Papers in the custody of the National Library of Wales; and press cuttings, 1912-1955.

Personal and professional papers of Dr William Thomas, 1911-1981, including a diary of his time as a prisoner of war in Germany, 1914-1915; letters relating to his contributions on radio and television, 1916-1974; papers relating to his blind son Ian, 1924-1964; papers relating to his son William, 1937-1944; valuations of stock and farm accounts, 1952-1973; and testimonials, 1911-1922, and papers of his sister-in-law Magdalen Morgan, [1920]-1970, including lecture notes and scripts of plays in which she performed.

Collection of scripts formerly held as stock at the Drama Association of Wales as donations/loans from theatre companies across Wales. The collection also includes some letters from donors, play flyers, stage directions and notes from numerous playwrights/directors.
