A collection comprising correspondence, poetry, notes, extracts and miscellanea (mainly relating to religious matters), an account book from Haverfordwest, sermons by several individuals, a journal of Timothy Davies, Caeronnen, and hymns by Reuben Davies ('Prydydd y Coed').

The fonds consists of personal papers and correspondence, 1826-1967, of members of the family of Rees Jenkin Jones, namely the Rev. John Jones (1802-1863), Mrs Anne Griffith Jones (1852-1899), Dr Goronwy Jones (1881-1945), the Rev. Simon Jones (1879-1967) and the Rev. Rees Jenkin Jones (1835-1924) himself, together with estate records, 1620-1916, of the Clettwr estate, Cardiganshire, Cilgell Isaf estate, Carmarthenshire, and of premises in Aberdare, Glamorgan. Much of the material relates to the Unitarian cause in Wales.

Twenty-seven boxes of papers relating to the Roman Catholic Church, Wrexham Diocese. Material includes Ad clerums 1897-1946; Pastoral letters 1913-1935; Histories of missions (mainly N. Wales) 1888-1893; Misc. papers relating to seminaries and colleges (St. Sulpice; Vallodolid; Ushaw; Up Holland; Oscott; Lisbon; Cotton College), c.1920-1946; Parish statistics 1922-47; Visitations to 1947; Religious orders in diocese to 1947; Financial papers 1901-47; Ordinations 1938-45; Reconciliations 1926-46; Marriage dispensations 1895-1947; Parish financial returns 1930s; Deeds, conveyances c.1914-1939; Papers of Bishop John Petit (relating primarily to the Second Vatican Council) c. 1960s; Prayer books and other printed items; Newscuttings 1930s.

The collection comprises: papers relating to Raymond Williams's published works, 1958-1990, including working papers, draft and final typescripts, notebooks and files containing outlines of books, page proofs, and a small quantity of correspondence, some with Mrs Joy Williams; papers relating to Raymond Williams's unpublished works, 1948-1980s, including parts of novels, various notes and jottings.

Papers of Raymond Garlick, 1944-2008, comprising poetry, 1951-1999; correspondence with Jacques Wirz, 1947-2008; letters, 1944-2003, from Elwyn Davies, Jonah Jones, Brenda Chamberlain, Cledwyn Hughes, A. G. Prys-Jones and others; diaries and travel journals, 1950, 1956-1957, 1987-1998, 2000-2001; and papers relating to the Welsh language campaign, 1969-1984.

Papers, 1883-1996, of, or acquired by, the artist Ray Howard-Jones (1903-1996), including correspondence, diaries, notes and draft poems, and papers relating to exhibitions, together with photographs and slides, and printed material.

A further group of papers of, or acquired by Ray Howard-jones was received June 2006. This group remains uncatalogued.

The papers, 1960-2003, reflect Councillor Ray Davies's life and the political campaigns and activities in which he was involved. Many are cuttings from local and national newspapers and other printed items. Some of the material reflects his campaigns in various elections, others the movements which he supported and in which he participated. A large number relate to the campaign against the community charge in the 1980s and 1990s. A few stem from his personal and family life.

Three lots of Councillor Ray Davies'r papers were received, 2006-2008. These remain uncatalogued.

Papers, 1835-1924, of Sir Andrew Crombie Ramsay comprising almost entirely of correspondence, which includes family letters, and correspondence, 1842-1923, between members of the Johnes family of Dolau Cothi and the Ramsay family.

Walker relating to further education, 1964-1979, comprising Thurrock Technical College, Essex, workbooks, syllabuses and course notes, 1965-1970; Sunderland Polytechnic, Department of Business Studies, curriculae, meeting minutes, workbooks and other papers, 1970-1976; Ngee Ann Technical College, Singapore, meeting minutes, curriculum and correspondence, 1976-1979; and miscellaneous papers, 1964-1979.

Papers, 1889-1963, of Prof. Roderick Urwick Sayce, including notes by him on anthropology, archaeology, geology and geography, together with drafts and offprints of publications written and collected by him, his personal papers and correspondence, and a considerable amount of material collected by Professor A. C. Haddon, Professor of Zoology at the Royal College of Sciences and Assistant Naturalist to the Science and Art Museum of Dublin, relating to Irish folklore, including correspondence between Sayce and Haddon.

A large collection of papers containing letters from various correspondents to R. (Silyn) Roberts, some from prominent literary figures such as W.J. Gruffydd, T. Gwynn Jones and Cynan - one letter from David Lloyd George. The topics covered include the poetry of R. (Silyn) Roberts, his work with the WEA and the Labour Party, and personal matters. Some correspondence is addressed to Mrs Silyn Roberts, 1930-1939 and some from R. (Silyn) Roberts to his family, 1896-1930. -- There is an incomplete set of R. (Silyn) Roberts' diaries, 1896-1930. Also, drafts of his own poetry, essays, adjudications, and notes on various subjects, including his own collections of poetry and his biography. There are notes on sermons, examination papers, research notes on Arthurian Legend, applications for posts, photographs, a labour party address and lecture notes when studying at UCNW and at Bala Theological College. -- There are papers, including correspondence and accounts, relating to the First World War and the suffering experienced in Wales; the poetry of Hedd Wyn and the Hedd Wyn Memorial Fund, 1917-1926; a trip to the United States with the Moelwyn Choir to collect money towards the campaign against tuberculosis in Wales, 1911-1912.

Financial records of Robert Richards Nancarrow, 1908-1930, including personal bank books, 1908-1944; records relating to Lisburne Development Syndicate Ltd, 1907-1920; records relating to Cambrian Electrolytic Zinc Co Ltd, 1922-1927; records relating to the Lisburne Base Metals Recovery Ltd, 1929-1930.

Papers, 1843-1991, of the artist R. L. Gapper, including correspondence, plans and other material relating to artistic commissions undertaken by him; records and correspondence accumulated through his work as an administrator and adjudicator with the National Eisteddfod, and also as a lecturer in the University of Wales; and personal papers, including diaries and correspondence. Many of R. L. Gapper's own letters remain in the archive, since he often made copies of the letters he sent.

This collection comprises some of the papers of R. J. Rees's brother, Morgan James Rees, M.D., and of Abraham Roberts, Calvinistic Methodist minister, London.

Papers of Alderman R. J. Ellis relating to Aberystwyth Borough Council and Cardiganshire County Council, mainly concerning planning and water, 1937-1975; letters relating to administration of estates, 1902-1976; personal papers, certificates, and diaries of R. J. Ellis, 1910-1972; and a letter from Irish politician Tim Healy, 1886.

Papers, [18 cent.]-[1876], from the library of Professor Richard Humphrey Richards, including a manuscript of John Roberts (Ieuan Gwyllt), Llyfr Tonau Cynnulleidfaol (Wrexham: Hughes, 1876), Ieuan Gwyllt's manuscript of a proposed English hymnal, and correspondence, 1860-1874, and notes of Ieuan Gwyllt; sermon notes, 1731-1763; and an eighteenth-century commonplace book.

Deeds and documents, 1686-1911, accumulated by R. H. Evans, relating to properties in parishes in south and west Caernarvonshire, Denbighshire, Cheshire and Lancashire, including miscellaneous correspondence and papers and particulars of mines in Llanengan, co. Caernarvon; manuscripts, papers and volumes relating to local government and the administration of justice in the counties of Caernarfon, Anglesey and Merioneth, 1685-1905; together with a manuscript volume of 'Old Welsh Melodies' collected by John Ceiriog Hughes, 'Ceiriog', Caersws, and presented by him to Nicholas Bennett, 1885.

Research papers of Professor R. George Thomas, mostly comprising typescript transcripts and photocopies of letters (the originals of which are held in English, American and Canadian repositories, and in private hands) from the poet Edward Thomas (1878-1917). The letters were assembled by R. George Thomas in preparation for his edition of Edward Thomas: Selected Letters (Oxford University Press, 1995), and are duplicates of copies deposited in the Edward Thomas Archive at Cardiff University.
