Music manuscripts and miscellaneous papers, 1893-[1999], transferred on the closure of the Welsh Music Information Centre, Cardiff, comprising a large number of music scores and sketches. Among the composers represented in the archive are Robert Bruce, Dilys Elwyn Edwards, John Edwards, J. R. Heath, Alun Hoddinott, Arwel Hughes, Idris Lewis, Ian Parrott and Grace Williams.

Thirty-five inscribed slates from Strata Florida Abbey, Cardiganshire, dated to the fifteenth century. Many of the slates are broken fragments with the inscriptions consequently often being incomplete; all are irregular in shape. The inscriptions comprise both text, the majority being in Welsh with examples of Latin and English, and pictures, comprising zoomorphic and anthropomorphic forms, geometric shapes and patterns, as well as other indefinite markings. The majority of the slates are inscribed on one face only, with eleven bearing inscriptions on both sides (SF 1, 3, 5-7, 15, 19, 22, 24, 28-29).
The five slates SF 13-14, 23, 25-26 are all broken fragments of one original slab (along with other still missing sections); with the exception of SF 13 the fragments can be joined up into one larger piece. SF 13-14 and 26 contain parts of a single epitaph, incised in large outline letters, which together appear to read: 'Hic ia[cet] ...es ap ... [a]p ll[ywelyn] [mona]chus'. SF 33 and 35 are also two fragments of a single slate.

Research of Dr John Roderick Walters, Abergavenny, into the phonology of the accent of English in the Rhondda Valleys, South Wales. The study includes interviews with members of the workman's Clubs in the Valleys communities, audio recordings, PDF files of the transcripts, an analysis and findings. The research findings were published in his PhD thesis: A study of the segmental and suprasegmental phonology of Rhondda Valleys English, at the then University of Glamorgan, 1999. The audio recordings were added at a later date. Also available http://phonology.org/ . Comprising 373 audio files, and 96 text files.

A collection comprising of 'articles' dating from 1780, with revised rules dated 1881, and further copies of articles; minutes; accounts, balance sheets, a bank pass book and financial statements; and correspondence relating to the 'Old Social Club', Aberystwyth.

The music manuscripts and papers, 1933-2010, of Alun Hoddinott, comprising a large group of music scores and sketches, [1940?]-2007; and papers, 1933-2010, relating to his life and work, comprising mainly correspondence, 1933-2010, scrapbooks, 1940-2008, concert programmes, 1936-2008, catalogues of works, 1946-2007; and articles and reviews, 1954-2006. Two additional manuscripts: anthem 'In the Beginning' (Opus 23A), and Toccata alla Giga for organ (Opus 37), purchased July 2016 have been incorporated into the main series of music A3 and A5. An additional group received in 2017, of mainly personal papers and correspondence is listed under 'Alun Hoddinott, 2017 (additional)'. Additional papers comprising handwritten scores of Alun Hoddinott's Nocturne 1 for Piano (Opus 9) (1956) and Nocturne 2 for Piano (Opus 16, No. 1) (1959) (December 2021 donation) have been added to the description. A sketchbook of Symphony II Op29 was purchased September 2022. Nocturne and Dance Op. 41, Concerto Grosso Op. 65, Horn Concerto (Donation July 2024) and Sinfonietta Op. 56 (November 2024).

The archive consists almost entirely of deeds and documents relating mainly to the Tan-y-bwlch estate in Llanllechid and Bethesda, Caernarfonshire, 1650-1922.
