Medieval medical texts, written in Italy in the fourteenth century: Nicolaus [Salernitanus], Antidotarium (ff. 1-21 verso); [Johannes de Parma], Collectiones omnibus capitulorum libri Mesue (ff. 22-25); Compilatio flebotomie de qualibet vena (ff. 25-26); recipes, 'Cassia fistulatum...' (ff. 26-27); recipes in two later hands of XIV or XV cent. (ff. 27-37).
Folios 1 and 2, 6 and 7, 18 and 19 are palimpsests. The lower script, partly legible under ultra-violet light, is from a book of transacts of a notary, Albericus [?], 'notarius sacri palatii', written not much earlier than the medical texts; there is reference in one document (f. 12) to 'villa de quart' [?Quart, near Aosta].

A volume, [1813x1815] (watermark 1813), containing translations into English verse, probably by Sir John Bernard Bosanquet (see pencil note on f. 2), of Welsh poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym (ff. 4-5), Aneirin (ff. 6-7 verso), Taliesin (ff. 8-10), Gwalchmai ap Meilyr (ff. 11-13), Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr (f. 14 recto-verso) and Iolo Goch (ff. 16-17 verso).
Also included are notes on the poets and their works (ff. 20-30 verso) and an English translation of triads attributed to Catwg Ddoeth (ff. 18-19 verso). The volume is illustrated with six ink and wash sketches (ff. 3, 4, 5, 11, 17 verso, 26), including one of Cilgerran Castle, Pembrokeshire (f. 4). Frances Elizabeth Lewis (d. 1846), to whom the volume was given (see f. 2), was the sister of Mary Anne (d. 1819), wife of J. B. Bosanquet.

The fonds comprises papers relating mainly to Kenneth Griffiths's work as a documentary film-maker with some material relating to his work as an actor and to his personal interests, friends and family. It includes typescripts of interviews, research material and correspondence relating to several of his productions including work by and on: Zola Budd, Horacio Nelson, Dr Ambedkar, Roger Casement, the Boer War, Michael Collins, Cecil Rhodes, David Ben Gurion, Stanley Morrison, the American War of Independence, the 24th Regiment in the Zulu War, Emily Hobhouse, Baden-Powel and Alfred Dreyfus. The fonds also includes a manuscript copy of his autobiography The Fool's Pardon, two boxes of newspaper cuttings relating to Kenneth Griffiths's life and work and two boxes of miscellaneous correspondence dating mainly between 1998-2001.
