A composite volume containing John O'Donovan: A Grammar of the Irish Language (Dublin, 1845), and Ernst Windisch: Durzgefasste Irische Grammatik mit Lesestücken (Leipzig, 1879), together with copious interleaved and marginal manuscript additions.

A notebook containing 'Family and Personal Miscellanea' in the hand of Charles Bowen (1809-82), rector of St. Mary-on-the-Hill with Upton, Cheshire. It was begun in 1838 and contains pedigrees showing the descent of Charles Bowen from the family of Bowen of Gurrey, Carmarthenshire, and a few personal press-cuttings, 1821-[44] (e.g. a report of a sermon preached by him at the opening of the new church of Llanvihangel-Rhydithon, Radnorshire, 1838).

Material relating to the introduction of school broadcasts in Wales, and in particular to the case for establishing a Welsh Sub-Committee of the Central Council for School Broadcasting. The papers include autograph letters, 1931-3, to W. Lloyd Pierce, Llanfair Caereinion (for the National Union of Teachers), from the British Broadcasting Corporation, the Central Council for School Broadcasting, and Wm. George, Criccieth; undated memoranda by W. Lloyd Pierce and Sir Percy Watkins; minutes of the Central Council for School Broadcasting and of the Welsh Sub-Committee, 1932-3; etc.

A miscellany written during the period 1762-5 by Rowland Jones, Pandy [Llanuwchllyn]. It contains poetry in free metres and some 'englynion', prognostications of Erra Pater based on the incidence of New Year's Day, and particulars of the phases of the moon in the year 1765. The poets mentioned by name include Cadwaladr Dafydd, Morgan Thomas 'o Gynllwyd', Robert Thomas, and Rowland Jones, but most of the poems are either unsigned or incomplete as a result of mutilation of folios. Memoranda in a later hand, probably by one Rees Jones, refer to spare and wanting copies of Y Dysgedydd and Seren [Gomer] for 1820-4, and other later entries associate the volume with the Llangadfan and Llanerfyl districts.

Manuscript volumes once in the possession of Richard Hall Williams, including a book of hymns in Welsh with the autograph of a Richard Williams and William Williams; a volume containing newspapers cuttings ('Byegones') from the Oswestry Advertizer, 1871-1873, and a ledger, [1869]-[1892], relating to businesses in the Newtown area.

A group of household vouchers (food, clothing, etc.) of William Yearsley Clarke, maltster, of Hight Street, Welshpool (with one voucher of Thomas Clarke, solicitor, Welshpool), 1841-70, and invoices of shipments of porter for W. Y. Clarke from Dublin to Chester, 1845.

A poem (202 lines), with annotations, entitled 'The Celtae'; and a list of contents of, and some transcripts from, a manuscript in the library of Chetham College, Manchester, entitled 'Short pedigree [sic] of Divers Noblemen, Knights, Esquires, Gentlemen & Gentlewomen of Pembrokeshire, containing all or most of the Eight Ancestors from whom they are Descended together with the arms of most of them - London - Printed by John Winter for the author, a.d. 1671'.

An account book of Tŷ Mawr Calvinistic Methodist Church, near Llannerch-y-medd, Anglesey, 1846-8, containing audited particulars of monthly and other collections and of payments to preachers and other disbursements. At the end are notes of a sermon preached at Tŷ Mawr, etc.

A volume of extracts, 1757-1847, from the minute books of the Anglesey Hunt. At the end of the volume is a list of the names of the comptrollers and the lady patronesses, and in most instances particulars of expenses, for each year from 1798 to 1829.

Two volumes of notes on 'Ecclesiastical History' by, and in the hand of, the Reverend Professor John Evans (1858-1963), Memorial College, Brecon.

Holograph and/or typescript copies of addresses by George Arbour Stephens, M.D., Swansea, including 'Was Dozmare Pool a Celtic lake of the Underworld?', published in Folk Lore, March, 1935, 'A Green Cross Service for the Celtic Fringe', delivered at the Celtic Congress, Isle of Man, 4 July, 1935, 'The Topographical Importance of Kidwelly and the Burry Estuary in connection with the Arthurian Romances. Caerwen as the old name for Kidwelly', published in The Carmarthen Journal, 25 November, 1938, and 'Radnorshire as a Centre of Celtic Mythology', delivered to the Radnorshire Antiquarian Society at Llandrindod, 2 December, 1938; together with some miscellaneous papers of G. Arbour Stephens, including army certificates, 1897-1918, notices of the leet court with view of frank-pledge of the borough and manor of Swansea, 1919-31, etc.

A pocket book of Robert Daniel of Llandderfel, father of D. R. Daniel, containing farming accounts, 1844-5, largely connected with the purchase and sale of stock and the sale of wool.

A holograph letter, 10 April ----, from Felicia [Dorothea] Hemans from Wavertree, to Samuel Parkes (returning the recipient's 'nice quiet Tragedies', the writer's holiday at Seacombe); and poetry by Mrs. Hemans, including manuscript copies of 'The Child's first Grief' and 'The Better Land' and printed copies of 'Child of Earth' and 'To the Cliffs of Dover'.

A holograph letter, 1866, from Sam[uel] Ferguson, poet and antiquary, from Dublin, to M. le Capitaine Biol?, referring to prospectuses and subscription papers in connection with the recipient's studies, the Fenian revolt in Ireland (with a quotation relating to Fenian cooking-places from John O'Mahony's translation, 1857, of Geoffrey Keating: Foras Feasa ar Eirinn), and the writer's survey of Tre Caerau [Tre'rceiri] in Caernarvonshire. Endorsed is a full-page sketch or 'Rough Survey of the British Fortress called Tre Caerau' by the writer.

A pedigree of the family of Hanmer of Hanmer, Flintshire ('Stemmata et Propagines antiquae familiae Hanmer de Hanmer transcript. ex libris Oweni Salusbury de Rûg. ar.') in the hand of Robert Vaughan (1592?-1666) of Hengwrt, Merioneth, with additions to the year 1684; a nineteenth century table showing the relationship between the families of Hanmer and Bunbury of Bunbury Stanny, Cheshire; another early nineteenth century table of the descendants of Gamaliel Lloyd of Mattersea Abbey, Nottinghamshire; and A list of the Nobility and Gentry, at Preston Guild, 1802.

Four holograph and two autograph letters, 1929-1947 and undated, written by Richard [Arthur Warren] Hughes, author of A High Wind in Jamaica (London, 1929), to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leach. The writer refers to a visit to the Adirondacks, a cruise with Harrison (Hal) Smith, the sale of 11,000 copies of his novel, his indebtedness to Henry Leach for the title of A High Wind in Jamaica, the schooling of his children, his removal from Laugharne Castle to Talsarnau, Merioneth, etc.

Miscellaneous accounts, 1846-1896, of David Jonathan, farmer and drover, of Ffwrneithin, Dihewid.

A volume of Jno. Lloyd, Mid[dle] Temple, 6 January, 1767, entitled 'Of the proceedings at Law in the Court of Great Sessions held for the Countys of Flint Denbigh and Montgomery in Wales as they are stated in the Books which relate immediately to this Court. Copied from a Book of Jno. Madocks Esqr. all of his own hand writing taken by him in the year 1749 when he went ye Welsh Circuit'. At the end of the volume are some legal precedents and a list of contents.

Account books, 1849-1880, of Daniel Jenkins of Coed, Llanddewi Aber-arth, later of Tyngwndwn, Llanbadarn Trefeglwys, co. Cardigan, farmer, containing farming and other accounts; a list of purchasers at the Coed sale, 1874, with the amounts paid for the various lots (MS 22878, ff. 1v, 9v-62); and miscellaneous memoranda. Inserted in MS 22877 is a copy of Reynolds's Astrological and Prophetic Almanack for 1848 (ff. 126-34v).
