Captain Rowland Humphreys (prisoner of war) papers,

Papers of and relating to Captain Rowland Humphreys, 1915-2005, master of the SS Saxon, who was imprisoned for four years at the Ruhleben prisoner of war camp, near Berlin, Germany, during the First World War. He was the father of Mrs Myfanwy Morris, the donor. The papers include publications relating to the Ruhleben camp, 1915-1917, including a prospectus for the camp school, 1917, with a Welsh course being offered and a membership card of the school; a photocopy of his discharge certificate, 1918; notes by the donor on the prisoners, and her talk 'The internment of Capt. Rowland Humphreys 1914-18', Porthmadog, 1992. Papers, 1915-1918, relating to the teaching of Welsh at Ruhleben internment camp are in NLW ex 2803.
