Prys-Jones's papers include letters from him, mainly to Don Dale-Jones, 1967-1987; letters to him from various literary figures, 1934-1987; poetry, including drafts for his published collections, [c. 1923]-[c. 1987], unpublished collections, [c. 1924]-[c. 1968], other published and unpublished poems, 1913-1969, and some poetry notebooks, [c. 1984]; prose works, including short stories, [c. 1930s]-1975, and plays, 1932-1972, many of which were either published, performed or broadcast; drafts and press cuttings of articles and reviews published in newspapers, particularly the Western Mail, 1929-1968, as well as unpublished articles, [c. 1947]-[1960s]; press cuttings of articles about and reviews of Prys-Jones' work, 1923-1987; typescript copies and drafts of The Story of Carmarthenshire and other works, 1941-1972; papers relating to Welsh history, including education in Wales and Llandovery College, 1908-1970; drafts and typescripts of talks, lectures and speeches, including radio scripts, 1937-1958; poetry, prose and lectures by other authors, 1924-1987; and other personal papers and ephemera, 1933-1986. Photographs taken by A J Sylvester of David Lloyd George, his families and entourage. The majority are of motoring holidays and cruises to mainland Europe. Included are his cruise on 'Sabrina' in 1929 and recalled in chapter 14 of 'The Real Lloyd George' by A J Sylvester (London, 1947).Others are of D Ll G's estate at Churt.

The 1984, 1987, 1990-1992, 1996-1997 accruals, listed as Welsh Arts Council Archives (Groups I, II and III) respectively, comprise mainly papers from: the Drama Department, 1961-1994, including papers relating to drama and theatrical companies, theatres, arts centres, revenue clients, the drama committee, theatre in education, community theatre, festivals, projects, funding and financial matters, housing the arts, playwrights and writing, arts marketing, societies, and the Drama Association of Wales; the Dance Department, 1968-1988, including correspondence and papers of dance committees and panels, together with papers relating to dance projects, companies & groups, dancers, community dance, projects, festivals and events, productions and funding; the Visual Arts Department, 1946-1987, including exhibition files relating to various exhibitions, together with papers relating to commissions by the Welsh Arts Council, regional arts associations, funding matters, competitions, projects, and Oriel gallery exhibitions; the Literature Department, 1953-1991, including papers relating to journals, publications, societies and associations, publishers, competitions, funding matters, scholarships, authors and poets, events, festivals, awards, children's literature, and literature committees; the Music Department, [1963]-1985, including papers relating to the Welsh National Opera company, eisteddfodau, festivals, funding, societies, policy matters, concerts, competitions, together with general papers; the Film Department, 1960-1963, including papers relating to committees and working groups, funding, awards, the British Film Institute, festivals, education and training, and the film archive; the Finance and Administration Department, 1961-1993, including minutes and policy papers, financial returns, financial reports, and papers relating to projects, arts centres, societies, theatres, galleries, revenue clients, together with papers relating to drama, dance, literature, visual arts and music matters; Director files relating to various arts organisations and Welsh Arts Council departments, 1970-1992. The accrual described here comprises additional records, 1863-2002, including papers of the Finance and Administration Division, the Chief Executive Division, the Access Development Division, and the Artform Development Division, which consists of papers of the Visual Arts, Literature, Drama, Dance and Music Departments, and papers inherited from its predecessor body, the Welsh Arts Council.

Deeds, rentals, estate receiver's accounts, surveys, valuations, correspondence, maps and plans of the Ashburnham estate in Breconshire, Carmarthenshire and Glamorganshire, 1392-1968 (predominantly 1600-1925); sale catalogues and related papers, 1900-1923, deeds of the Mellington Hall estate in the parishes of Churchstoke and Mainstone in Montgomeryshire and Shropshire, 1753-1937, mortgaged by Samuel Rankin Heap to the trustees of the Ashburnham estate in 1923; manorial records and related papers of the manors of Cantref Selyf, 1650-1810, Talgarth, 1650-1826, Bronllys, 1661-1757, and Crickadarn, 1743-1809, all in Breconshire, and especially of the manor of Pembrey in Carmarthenshire, 1663-1922 (including papers relating to rights of shipwreck); accounts of collieries in Pembrey, 1714-1852 (mainly 1795 onwards), and papers relating to Pembrey tithes, colliery, port and harbour, and foreshore rights and wrecks, mainly 18-early 20 cent.

Family papers and estate records, 1370-1941, of the Baker-Gabb family of The Chain, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, and their antecedents, mainly deeds and documents relating to lands in Monmouthshire and Herefordshire, mainly from the second half of the sixteenth century, when the Bakers first appear as stewards of the lordship of Abergavenny, including deeds relating to the town and castle of Abergavenny, the Priory of Abergavenny, and the Priory of Llanthony Prima; records of the following Monmouthshire manors: Cwmyoy, Llanthony, Stanton, Redcastle, Oldcastle, Triley, Abergavenny, Ewyas Lacy, Crickhowell, Hothneslade, and Newton or St Margaret's from 1632 onwards, including court books, perambulations and rentals; a breviary in the English style of the fourteenth-fifteenth century (NLW MS 16147A); papers relating to David Lewis, Catholic bishop of Llandaf, including his speech at the place of his execution, 1679; and diaries etc. of John Baker Gabb, private chamberlain to Pope Leo XIII, 1859-1892; a poll of burgesses of Monmouth, Newport and Usk, 1715, and material on the genealogy of the Baker Gabb family. -- Many of the letters and deeds belong to the solicitor's practice established by Thomas Gabb in 1760.

Deeds, 1298-1837, relating to North Wales, notably to the manor of Gogarth, Caernarfonshire.

Records, almost all title deeds, of the estates of the Thelwall family of Bathafarn Park and Llanbedr Hall, Denbighshire, lying manily in that county, but with lands in Flintshire, Merionethshire, Anglesey, Chester and Lancashire, 1483-1864, and papers relating to the Frodsham charity, Cheshire, 1815-1841.

The fonds comprises papers accumulated by Bert Pearce including the minutes and papers of the Communist Party Great Britain, 1921-1998, Communist Party Wales, 1884-2002, and the Democratic Left, 1978-1999. Also included are papers relating to elections, devolution in Wales and Scotland, industry, miners strikes, anti-apartheid, international affairs, peace movement, Peoples March for Jobs, and the poll tax campaign. The accumulated papers reflect Bert Pearce's life work for the Communist Party in Birmingham and Wales, as well as the active part he played in the campaigns listed above. The archive does not contain personal material.

The archive consists almost entirely of deeds relating to the Bettisfield estate in Flintshire, [c.1240]-1951, and estate and family letters, 1588-1889. The remainder of the archive includes two medieval French vellum rolls, one containing a metrical version of the life of St Melor, written about the end of the thirteenth century, and the other a short religious poem, [15th cent.]; draft sheets of Sir Thomas Hanmer's 'Garden Book' [17th cent.]; pedigree rolls; rolls of proceedings at sheriffs' tourns and manorial courts of the lordship of Maelor Saesneg, 1413 and 1444; court rolls of the manor of Overton, 1618, and of the manor of Overton and hundred of Maelor Saesneg, 1672-1720; letters and warrants relating to the Civil War, 1642-1650; letters relating to Richard Steele, Puritan minister at Hanmer, 1660, and papers relating to the Bagillt, Kelsterton, Flint Mill, Boars Head, Flint Marsh, Englefield, Soughton Mountain, Dee Bank and Lletty collieries, Flintshire, 1794-1846.
