A collection of ephemera and papers relating to Sister Florence Mulfra Williams (1902-1983) of London, originally of Swansea, Glamorgan, who served during the Second World War in Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS), and was one of the first nurses to enter Bergen-Belsen concentration camp after its liberation in April 1945.

Seven holograph letters and one Christmas card, 1896-1899 and undated, from Fred[erick] W[illiam] P[earce] Jago [Cornish scholar] from Plymouth, to (as per address or by inference) H[enry] T[obit] Evans at Lampeter and Carmarthen. The letters relate largely to a mutual interest in the Cornish language. Specific points referred to include the address of a Truro bookseller who could provide recipient with books on Cornish, the writer's friendship with [the Reverend John] Bannister, variant forms of the writer's name, the death of the Cornish language owing to the pressure of English, the lack of a printed literature, etc., the survival of Cornish dialect in West Cornwall, the writer's published glossary of the Cornish dialect [The Ancient Language and the Dialect of Cornwall with an enlarged Glossary . . . (Truro, 1882)] and his English - Cornish Dictionary . . [(London, 1887)], unpublished manuscript copies of second editions of these two works which the author had offered to sell to the Royal Institute of Cornwall, the possibility that Professor [John] Rhys [of Oxford University] would assist with publication, the state of the Welsh language and the danger to it from English pressure on the eastern border and 'Forster's law of education', the need for 'at least bilingual teaching in the Welsh schools and the employment of native teachers', the lack of information relating to the use of Cornish in church services, the last sermon preached in Cornish, recipient's visit to Cornwall and newspaper articles by him describing the visit, the Breton and Manx languages, the [South African] war, and recipient's newspaper work.

A holograph essay on 'Addysg yn Nghymru: Yn gosod allan ansawdd bresenol a neillduolion yr addysg a weinyddir; awgrymiad at ddiwygiad; yn nghyda'r pwysigrwydd o gysylltu Ysgolion Elfenol a'r sefydliadau Gramadegol a'r Colegau' written by 'Ofydd' [i.e., Hugh Pritchard, Llannerch-y-medd, co. Anglesey], and submitted for competition at the National Eisteddfod at Caernarfon [1880]. Bound in at the end of the volume is a cutting, from Baner ac Amserau Cymru, of the adjudication of Thomas Powell [sic], [University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, Cardiff]. One half of the prize money was awarded to 'Meurig ap Iorwerth' ( Mr. M. E. Morris, Minffordd, Portmadoc, co. Caernarvon).

Three holograph letters from [Richard Jones Owen] ('Glaslyn'; 1831-1909), Penrhyndeudraeth, to his grand-daughter Elizabeth] Glaslyn Owen, Llanrwst, 1903-1907 (the teaching of Welsh in Secondary Schools, the recipient's studies, the recipient's marriage, personal); and manuscripts of John Owen ('Ap Glaslyn'; 1857-1934), including a holograph poem, 'Rhiangerdd Gwen o' r Ddol', which was awarded the prize at an eisteddfod at Llandudno, 1887, a scrap-book, 1882-1896 and undated, relating to eisteddfodau and literary and musical festivals, a certificate in elocution, 1885, and a certificate of ordination as Calvinistic Methodist minister, 1919.

Notebook of Daniel Lewis (1841-1922), King Street, Carmarthen, grocer, containing accounts, 1880-1882, family memoranda and transcripts of wills, and details relating to the election of deacons at Lammas Street (Heol Awst) Welsh Congregational chapel, Carmarthen, 1841-1937.

Correspondence, 1901-1908, relating to the establishment of Independent Labour Party (ILP) branches in and around Swansea. Included are letters from Charles Duncan of the Workers' Union, John Penny, J. Bruce Glasier and Philip Snowden of the Independent Labour Party, and include references to Keir Hardie and J. Littlejohns. The majority of the letters are to Matt Giles, who became the first full time organiser for the ILP in Wales.

Transcripts, [early 19th cent.] (watermark 1803), in an unknown hand, of odes, ballads, dialogues and satirical letters of English political interest, composed by Sir Charles Hanbury Williams in the period 1732-1745.
With the exception of 'To Kitty Walker' (f. 62), all the works appear, with mostly minor variations, in The Works of the Right Honourable Sir Chas. Hanbury Williams..., 3 vols (London, 1822). The contents list (f. i recto-verso) includes titles of additional poems, after f. 119, which were subsequently cut from the volume.

They include a notice of promotion to be one of the Inspectors of the Metropolitan Police Force, 29 April, 1844; an invitation, 14 August, 1847, under the signatures of magistrates of the county of Carmarthen, to discharge the duty of goaler till the Quarter Sessions; a certificate of good conduct in the Metropolitan Police Force, 1 September, 1847; a holograph letter, 4 November, 1847, from Charles Bishop, Llandovery, enclosing a copy of the order for the recipient's appointment as county gaoler and governor; eighteen holograph letters, 4-17 November, 1854, from visiting magistrates of Carmarthenshire and others, supporting his application for a similar post in the county of Middlesex; a printed statement of accounts, 21 January, 1870, between George Stephens, late treasurer, and the members and congregation of Zion Calvinistic Church, Carmarthen; a printed 'in memoriam' card of David Price Davies of Pumpsaint, 1874; and a holograph letter, 17 November [1876] from C.
