Journals and diaries, 1878-1930, of the Rev. Evan Ungoed-Thomas (1860-1930), minister of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Carmarthen. The journals and diaries were originally deposited by Mr T. J. Evans, Clunderwen, in December 1963 and March 1964 without the permission of the Rev. Evan Ungoed-Thomas's family.

The papers comprise research papers and notes relating to the Celtic verb and syntax (see Donald G. Howells, 'The Gaelic of Carloway, Isle of Lewis: prepositions with verbal nouns' in James Carney and David Greene (editors), Celtic Studies. Essays in memory of Angus Matheson 1912- 1962 (London, 1968), and D. Gwyon Howells, 'Absolute and conjunct again', Studia Celtica, 22/23 (1987/88)); notes in the form of index cards relating to the origin of Welsh phrases and idioms (boxes 15-16); translation and grammatical points on 'Y Gododdin' (box 6) and comments on the syntax of 'Breuddwyd Rhonabwy' (box 10); and photocopies of articles relating to syntax in other languages, in particular French and Indo- European (box 14).

The fonds comprises records of Mount Zion Church, 1909 and 1957-1983, including a register of baptisms and burials, c.1957-1983, and a certificate to officiate marriages, 1909; a ministry collection book, 1968-1983; and a volume listing monetary contributions to the ministry, 1972-1976.

Estate records of the Vaughan family of Courtfield, Welsh Bicknor, Herefordshire, and associated families of Vaughan of Ruardean, Gloucestershire, and Weld of Lulworth, Dorset, 13 cent.-20 cent.; almost all title deeds relating to lands chiefly in Monmouthshire, Radnorshire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire,[temp Edward I]-1916; and manorial records, 1454-1792. The Vaughans were notable adherents to Catholics and the archive includes acquittances to Joan Vaughan of Ruardean, a Catholic recusant, for the payment of fines, 1620-1644, and papal licences and instruments of possession of Cardinal Herbert Vaughan, Archbishop of Westminster.

Papers of the Congregational Federation in Wales, 1984-1997, including correspondence, 1992-1997; minutes of various committees and council meetings, 1984-1996; papers relating to Cytun, 1992-1994; and miscellaneous bulletins and denominational papers, 1992-1996.

Papers of Rev. R. Meirion Roberts, comprising fifty seven notebooks containing sermons in Welsh, 1946-51 and undated, most of which were delivered at Laird Street Presbyterian Church of Wales, Birkenhead; some 3,000 cards containing sermons, mainly in English, 1930s-60s; a bundle of sermons in English and Welsh, 1930s, 1950, and undated; and a few miscellaneous notes.

The fonds comprises records of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Waverton, comprising a draft conveyance, 1894, two printed items, 1908 and 1949, two ministry collection books, 1967-1982, and miscellaneous papers, 1974-1982.

The fonds contains the records of Zion Chapel, Blacklane, Pentre Broughton, comprising a register of births, baptisms and deaths, 1960-1995; a minute book of members' meetings, 1967-1997; and two treasurers' books, 1986-1997.

Printed works, 1784-1802, of Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin), with annotations and additions in the hand of John Freeman Milward Dovaston, West Felton, Shropshire, writer and antiquary; and a letter, 1817, from Jones to Dovaston.

This collection includes poetry written while Nicholas was imprisoned in Swansea and Brixton, 1940, together with letters, 1910-1914, to Nicholas, and a translation into English, [c. 1910], of Nicholas's poem Sarah.

The fonds comprises minutes of the Liberal Democrats Wales Executive Committee, the Welsh Campaigns and Communications Committee, and the Finance and Administration Committee, 1988-1998. The papers were accumulated by Peter Black as a member of the Party, former chair of the Welsh Party, c. 1995-1997, and former chair of the Welsh Liberal Democrats Finance and Administration Committee.
