Papers relating to the life and career of Edward Morgan Humphreys, including letters to E. Morgan Humphreys, from several prominent Welsh figures, 1900x1955, relating to professional matters, such as his articles and contributions to newspapers, requests for articles, radio talks, addresses, literary works, public appointments, his involvement with the eisteddfod and various committees; together with some letters relating to personal affairs, politics and literary matters and letters written to him in his role as an editor; miscellaneous and family ('Dyffryn') correspondence, which are mostly letters of the families of E. Morgan Humphreys' great-grandfather, the Rev Richard Humphreys, and of his grandfather, the Rev Edward Morgan, [1800]x1953; articles, radio scripts and addresses by E. Morgan Humphreys, 1902x1955; together with some personal and family papers, 1841x1955; articles, poetry, adjudications and letters to the editor of Y Genedl etc., by T. Gwynn Jones, 1890x1949; and other miscellaneous papers accumulated by E. Morgan Humphreys, [1762]x1955. Some of the family correspondence was published in 'Some Nineteenth Century Letters', in The Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, 1925-1926.

The fonds comprises letters, 1928-1999, to Lady White, diaries, 1936-1984, papers, 1907-1994, reflecting her career as a Labour politician, papers, 1859-1994, concerning her outside interests and activities, records, 1950-1996, deriving from Lady White's involvement in Welsh political and public life, and material, 1960-1990, concerning her activities in educational matters. There are also family papers, 1892-1992, including some relating to Lady White's father Dr Thomas Jones CH (1870-1955) and to her husband John Cameron White (1911-1968). There is also a substantial group of press cuttings and other printed material, 1919-1997. A further two boxes of papers were received in January 2007; this group remains uncatalogued.

The catalogued portion of the archive contains records of the family of Owen, later Humphreys-Owen, of Glansevern, and Johnes of Garthmyl, mainly comprising title deeds and documents, [late 12 cent.]-1929, mainly relating to property in Montgomeryshire; estate papers, 1767-1924, including rentals, accounts and surveys; records relating to Campobello island, New Brunswick, Canada, 1767-1902; substantial family correspondence, 1633-1926, political correspondence of Arthur Charles Humphreys-Owen, 1856-1905, including letters from Lord Rendel; naval papers of Captain William Owen, 1746-1778, [c. 1797]. The uncatalogued part of the archive includes correspondence of the Owen and Humphreys-Owen families, 1754-1905; pedigree of the Owen family, 1839; and material relating to S. P. F. Humphreys Owen, [c. mid 20 cent].

Comprises Gwilym Prys-Davies' political papers, 1954-2008, including letters, articles, minutes and reports, as well as subject files, 1912-2012, and letters between Harri Webb and John Legona and some papers relating to William Abraham (Mabon). Comprises letters, 1957-1997, to John Morris, mainly of political interest. Many of the letters are from John Morris's Aberavon constituents. In some cases there are copies of his replies and/or drafts of his replies, prepared to be typed up by a secretary. The letters cover a wide range of subjects, mainly governmental affairs and the work of various governmental ministries and departments, above all the Welsh Office. Many letters concern the Labour Party, its various committees and its internal affairs. Many of the letters are from constituents who make enquiries and refer problems and difficulties to their Member of Parliament. Some also concern the framing and implementation of various pieces of legislation. There are also many subject files, 1951-1995, divided into British subjects, Welsh affairs, many of these concerning devolution, and constituency matters. The subject files relating to British politics nationally include material on a wide range of subjects including defence, disarmament, education, the EEC, parliamentary elections, the environment, foreign affairs, housing, the Labour Party, leasehold reform, local government, pensions, the steel industry, transport, and specific pieces of parliamentary legislation. The files on Welsh affairs include material on the Welsh Office, the Labour Party Wales, the Crowther/Kilbrandon Commission and devolution, the Development Corporation for Wales, and the Welsh language. Thirdly, there is a group of printed, typescript and manuscript materials and diaries, 1943-1991. A further file, being Lord Morris's earliest drafts of the chapter on Kosovo (chapter 21), for inclusion in his book 'Fifty Years in Politics and the Law', published in 2011, was received in Februay 2013. This file is under Embargo during the lifetime of the donor. Further donations of material were made in Augist 2015 and August 2015. These remain uncatalogued although photographs have been transferred to photo albums and videocasettes, sound cassettes and DVDs have been transferred to the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales.

Papers, 1886-1968, of the Lloyd George family. The collection is comprised mainly of correspondence, the bulk of which is addressed to David Lloyd George, mostly from contemporary political figures and from members of his family. The political correspondence relates largely to Welsh affairs, including Disestablishment, the Welsh Church Commission, education and the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1911, as well as to the Irish Question and the First World War. David Lloyd George's family correspondence includes letters, [c. 1886]-1941, between David Lloyd George and his wife Margaret, from David Lloyd George to his uncle Richard Lloyd, 1890-1916, and to David Lloyd George from his brother William George, 1891-1915; other family correspondence includes letters to Margaret Lloyd George, 1893-1939, from various correspondents, and from Margaret Lloyd George mainly to her daughter Olwen Carey-Evans, 1917-1939; correspondence and papers of Megan Lloyd George, daughter of David and Margaret Lloyd George, including letters, 1939-1957, to and from Labour politician Philip Noel-Baker and from other correspondents, 1910-1966, including her parents, together with a tour journal, 1923-1924, and diary, 1947, and correspondence and papers, 1914-[c. 1963], of Gwilym Lloyd George, son of David and Margaret Lloyd George, including a typescript draft, [c. 1960]-1962, of his (unpublished) autobiography; together with speech notes, notebooks and miscellaneous papers, [c. 1904]-1939, of David Lloyd George, and correspondence and papers, 1898-1909, relating to Mair Eluned Lloyd George, daughter of David and Margaret Lloyd George.
