History
Lily F. Chitty (1893-1979) was an archaeologist and independent scholar who specialised in prehistoric archaeology. Her family moved to Shropshire from Devon when she was young, and her professional interests were particularly concerned with Wales and western England. Having already created her own card index of archaeological periodicals and related literature, she was asked in the 1930s by the Cambrian Archaeological Association to create a card index for its journal, Archaeologia Cambrensis. The index was published in 1964, and is highly regarded.
