The Mathias family include Rev. John Matthias (d. 1805) of Lochmeyler, vicar of Llandeloy, who bought Castle Cenlas, c.1792.

Solicitors' personal and clients' papers accumulated by the depositor. The Montgomeryshire papers derive from early in the depositor's career, as a solicitor in Newtown. Some of the Ceredigion papers in clients' files derive from Griffith Jones of Aberystwyth, solicitor (1880), later of Aberllolwyn, esq. (1890), while other papers relate to his personal affairs. Other papers derive from the practice of R. Geddes Smith of Aberystwyth, solicitor (1882-1887), which became Smith Owen & Davies [Robert Geddes Smith, William Pierce Owen and William Davies] (1890s), Smith, Davies & Evans [C. Denham Evans] (1910s), Smith Davies & Co., and Smith Jessop & Tomley (late 1960s-early 1970s).

A collection of 13 documents, 1685-1860, relating to the Cymerau Estates were received. This group remains uncatalogued.
