The Griffith family took a close personal interest in the management of their estates, as is clear from their letters. Inevitably, some of the day to day administration and the rent collection was in the hands of agents, such as John Hosier in the early 1750's. There is little specific information regarding the overall organisation, but some of the rentals and surveys would suggest that for practical purposes the Garn and Cwyber estates were managed together. It would appear that John Wynne Griffith was anxious for his sons to learn about estate administration first hand. Private letters and estate accounts indicate that Edward Humphrey Griffith and Richard Augustus Griffith were helping their father to manage the Denbighshire and Merionethshire estates respectively. W.D.W. Griffith, in 1882, complained of the small size and poverty of his estate, being unable to afford an agent, and managing it all himself.
