1 Thomas Bacon of Oaken in p. Codsall, Staffordshire. 2 Jeremiah Homfray of Llandaff. Agreement (draft) to assign a lease of part of Hirwain common bounded by the lands of the Marquis of Bute and Mr Morgan on the south, the upper part of Hirwain common along a line settled and agreed by the parties on the north, the lands of T. H. Gwynne on the west, and lands of the Earl of Plymouth, Samuel Rees, Miss Elizabeth Williams and a field held by John Watkins on the east, also of all coal and iron, stone, clay and sand found under the said lands, with full liberty to exploit same and to appropriate any water from the river Cynon for the purpose of condensing water for fire engines and other uses, but so as not to diminish water running to the Hirwain furnace and to Maesyrydia mill in Penderin, and so as not to deprive the assignor from collecting the whole of the water on the upper part of the said common for the use of fire engines and forges he should thereafter build near Hirwain furnace, and with full liberty for Homfray to erect houses and furnaces; for the remainder of term of 99 years granted by Lord Windsor, of which 55 remained unexpired at a yearly rent of £100 for the first two years of the term agreed to be granted and £300 per annum subsequently; also covenant to assign the lease of Maesridia mill.
