The Humphreys family of Brithdir in the parish of Berriew, Montgomeryshire, appear to be related to the Humphreys family of Pennant, in the township of Trwstllywelyn in the same parish. Charles Humphreys (fl. 1730-1769) of Pennant, gent., is described as the only son and heir apparent to William Thomas (fl. 1713-1730) of the same place, gent., who is probably the son of Francis Thomas (fl. 1704-1721) of Pennant, gent. Humphrey Humpreys was Charles's only son and heir apparent in 1769.
