A manuscript copy, [c. 1827] (watermark 1825), of 'A Specimen of Welsh Preaching', being an English translation of part of the noted sermon by Christmas Evans on 'The Fall and Recovery of Man', presented within the story of a Welsh minister in Bristol relating the sermon to his English colleagues.
Versions of the 'Specimen' were published multiple times in periodicals in Britain and America in the nineteenth century (see for example The Religious Examiner, 4 (1831), 183-185) and other manuscript copies also exist (for example NLW MS 11532C). The sermon is discussed in Tim Shenton, Christmas Evans: The Life and Times of the One-eyed Preacher of Wales (Darlington, 2001), pp. 410-413.
