Scope and content

Mainly literary papers of composer and conductor Daniel Jenkyn Jones, comprising both early unpublished poetry and prose by Daniel Jones and material relating to later published literary works, almost all of which relate to Jones's friend and early literary collaborator, poet and writer Dylan Thomas, which were either written or edited by, or produced with input from, Daniel Jones. The collection also includes a significant amount of material relating to Daniel Jones's incidental music and song settings composed as an accompaniment to Dylan Thomas's 'play for voices' 'Under Milk Wood' (1954), correspondence and press cuttings relating to Daniel Jones's literary and musical career and to his relationship with Dylan Thomas, and a few miscellaneous items, some of which relate to Dylan Thomas, including photographs of Dylan Thomas's former girlfriend, the novelist, playwright, poet and literary and social critic Pamela Hansford Johnson.
